Finally a chance to post what God has done! Dave Ramsey podcast off. check.
Pandora playing worship on. check.
Bible open. check. Now how to say this...
God has done so much for me and Scott in the past 2 weeks. It's all been a huge whirlwind to say the least. A few days ago I just wanted to sit in the floor and cry. Have you ever been in that moment where you are completely overwhelmed by the blessings of God? Like you can't quite be grateful enough? I'm there now...
If we're friends on facebook or twitter, you know that we are in the process of moving. Yep, buying a house in this so called "crazy" economy. Maybe that's one reason why I feel so blindsided by the blessings. Scott and I have been renting for a few years now, a beautiful farm house on 65 acres. We've been looking for land to build for a while or a house to "fix-up." ...all attempts failed. Until a couple weeks ago.
So, now we are living in a house my Dad built years ago for my brother, on farm land that I grew up on. You guys know how sentimental I am so again...I'm feeling blessed and beyond grateful. I never thought it would be so peaceful leaving the farm because I loved that place so much. BUT where God orchestrates, peace abounds.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will and he will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6
A few things I love about our new home:
My drawers stay shut...the floor in the farm house was not level, esp in the bedroom. So our dresser drawers were always open.
Well water...I hate city water.
No bugs...or not as many. It was impossible to keep the bugs out of that old house, esp. the lady bugs. For real, one lady bug season we could barely see our kitchen walls. When you walked through the door, the lady bug smell was always overwhelming!
LONG hot showers...we had gas hot water in the farmhouse, so I was always conservative as to not use up the gas.
Things stay clean...I would dust in the farmhouse, and no lie, the next day it would need it again. It was impossible to keep clean, so I just gave up!
No mold...yes, AFTER we moved I found mold in the back of our night stand! I almost freaked!!! The nightstand is in the trash! I think the next point had something to do with the mold.
Regulated temperature...the farm house was not insulated well. In the winter it could get quite chilly even with a $300 electric bill, and in the summer quite warm. This I think was the cause for the mold, ugh! I'm disgusted!
Room for overnight visitors...the farmhouse was one bedroom, no place for the kids if they wanted to spend the night and no place to have kids.
An actual laundry room...very important to a wife.
Place to entertain outside and in.
Really, I could say so much more...I think you get the point.
Nothing is impossible with God. Period. He holds our world in His hands. He can heal. He can provide. He can restore. He has the best for us. It might not seem the best but if we can just learn to look through His eyes. To be grateful in every circumstance, to trust Him in all things. I'm at that place.
Pictures to post later, once we get settled and finish the small remodel of the kitchen/dining/living.
Feel free to comment on the blessings in your life since the New Year. If you don't want to share...that's ok too!
